For the nature photographer Niclas Ahlberg, the cutting spot arouses strong emotions.
In my role as a nature photographer interested in birds, the cutting spot is the optimal photo object. The monochrome, graphic plumage, the exciting upturned bill, the movement pattern as it forages. Even the sound is appealing. The cut spot is like a personification of concepts like sheer, neat, aesthetic, gracile and graceful. In the book, you get to share the facts, impressions and feelings about encounters with the cutting stain. The book is richly illustrated with 160 pictures, most of which are of course cuts. In the book, you get to follow the shearwater from arrival in Sweden and the breeding grounds through the breeding and departure to the wintering grounds and everything in between.
- There have been many early mornings, crawling through mud, through reeds, sometimes being chased by cows and bulls at the risk of life in order to gather the visual material that illustrates the book. But these mornings have also been a huge source of energy and vitality and are nothing I regret. I hope that after reading the book you will share my fascination with Recurvirostra avosetta – the graceful upturned bill wader.
