The Gitzo GHF2W (Gitzo Head Fluid 2-way) is a video head that fits perfectly with binoculars of all sizes, despite weighing only 720 grams complete with pan bar.
But even those who combine tubing with telephoto photography benefit from this head, as it takes a payload of 4 kilos. The new plate is Arca-Swiss compatible and easily inserted as a hinge that locks from the right side with a screw-controlled clamp. The simple design allows even a few centimeters of balancing. However, the plate lacks supporting guide pins that many other plates have, only a couple of rubber strings account for the friction between the equipment you mount and the plate's camera screw (1/4'', also includes a conversion thread from 1/4'' - 3/8''). The head is built in cast magnesium and, like the predecessor G2180, has a number of liquid cartridges in a ring inside the head. Now, however, handling has had to take center stage as the two knobs that control the two-way movement have been given an ergonomic design that even people with weak fingers can handle. From the G2180 we also recognize the superb balance function that is controlled from a knob at the back of the head, where a balance scale is also visible for easy memorization. The balance spring can be disengaged and engaged through a twisting movement. The lever is 34 cm long and is easily attached with a knob, without the need for a screwdriver.
Overall, the GHF2W feels like one of the most exciting binocular heads on the market right now!
