In Nyfiken på geologi Anders Rapp explains the geological background to what you will encounter in the various locations. Bits of knowledge that make your experiences even greater.
The main focus of the book is on the part of geology that includes forms in the terrain, less on minerals and rock types - although the latter are absolutely central in some chapters. Curious about geology is the first guide and fact book of its kind in Sweden. Countless guidebooks have been written about Swedish nature and Swedish culture - on the other hand, no book has previously been made for the general public about Swedish geology. Curious about geology is the first book of its kind to give tips on geological locales from south to north. It mainly takes up exciting and distinct landforms such as winding cobblestones, undulating slabs, strange caves, inviting caves, high dunes, mountains with elephant skin, etc. In order to get an experience of these premises, in the vast majority of cases no deep knowledge of either minerals or rocks is needed, not even a geologist's hammer! My goal has been to give each chapter a sufficiently large geological factual background, and in many chapters the text is also supplemented with information about the natural and cultural values that are also found at or right next to the geological phenomena - values that it would be a shame to miss when you are still on place!
"Read this book - then you will get started on geology! Quirky educational layout. Very nice as an inspiration book!" - Joacim Lindwall, Swedish Radio's Naturmorgon
"The book can be warmly recommended to all those interested in nature, both those who have not yet discovered how fascinating geology is and for those of us who are already saved but who for some reason have not yet logged all the 150 described places!" - By Weihed, Geological Forum
