"I have been photographing since a young age. It must have attracted me early on to point a camera at something and make it separate a section of the surroundings. Deep in me, the idea has taken root that the camera is built for a basic task, namely imaging. The image is basically a proof of a moment that no longer exists. Much of the wildlife photography we've seen over the years looks rather coldly at the nature and animals depicted. The most important prerequisite for wildlife photography, in my opinion, is to recognize that it is the the individual being that sustains life. Some people and animals do not exist in general. Therefore, all nature photography must first and foremost have its starting point in never knowingly scaring the animals, endangering the nesting of birds by building hiding places near nests, scaring young from parents in the evening chill etc. I think it is possible to approach the animals in an empathetic way and even make eye contact with them. Maybe the nature photographers can learn from the human-centered photographers something about empathy and direct that empathy towards nature and animals, which are the face of nature . This is roughly how my photographic explanation could look like. How I succeeded in that presumption, I truly do not know. It is the viewer's task to assess that matter". /Anders Johansson
