A beautifully illustrated book about the allure of an eight-eyed animal.
Rita is so longing that she trembles. Soon, very soon, she will float freely in the sea. But there are also dangers. Animals that want to eat her or waves that threaten to wash her up on land where she dries up. An eddy current runs through the water. It rocks the funnels where the jellyfish were stuck while they developed. All of Rita's siblings detach and go with the water, but one jellyfish is left alone. It's Rita. The book also contains short interesting facts about ear jellyfish.

Eva Warelius' choice to highlight animals that do not usually have a high status is to raise awareness that they are links in biological diversity, but also that they are interesting in themselves. Her previous book Glida runt lifet för en snigel (2021) was granted literature support from the Statens kulturråd and I vått og torrt : lifet för en padda (2022) received the highest rating from BTJ: "This is exactly how a really inspiring fact/faction book should be made to appeal to inquisitive preschool and school children of younger ages."
