Ekopark Hornsö is a distinguished wilderness, the finest in southern Sweden. This book aims to say something about the area's nature, history and memories. Perhaps my travels in the ecopark over several decades can serve as a starting point for others' travels and rambles through this wonderful nature.
People are always local. The Göls in the areas where they live, such as Lillegöl and Rudgöl, are also local, as is the person writing this. Everywhere you turn in Småland and in the world beyond Småland, you only see local people. 40 years ago I lived in Seattle on the west coast of the United States. What do you think I saw there? Yes, only local people. So certainly the people I met in Hornsö and the surrounding area, like the undersigned, are also universal! Like the puddles! And what can I say about a spring evening on the bridge over the Alsterån when the stars light up? There I have listened both to eternity and to more local sounds, such as a local chainsaw far away or a local grouse, bubbling from a local spruce top.
The bridge is called the Hyddebron. There was a building on one shore where they lived that built the bridge. One of them fell in love with a woman in the area. Her name was Elin. They had a child together, but Elin's father traveled up to Medelpad and brought her home. He had appointed a new man. I usually think about all this and more when I stand there on the bridge. Perhaps the purely local is a prerequisite for the universal? When I stood under the stars, I also thought that it is a blessing to live for a time as a human being on earth. So solemn can one become when the local circumstances coincide with the universal ones, and as it were merge into one. This is a book Ekopark Hornsö, about nature and history and people. And about my thoughts about all this. In short, one could say that the reader of this book enters the universe that exists in a province in Småland. / Anders Johansson
