The bees lay their eggs in cells and provide them with nectar as a food sac for the larvae to develop into full-grown bees. The bees want to be warm and preferably sheltered from the wind, so find a good location for your bee hotel. Preferably in the south where the sun is for large parts of the day. They are allowed to sit a few centimeters above the ground so that they do not get damp and need both shelter and warmth, preferably in a protected position so that it does not get damp.
If you want quick results, it is best to set them up in early spring, but there are guests who can move in during several parts of the year. There is simply no good time to clean a hotel, nor is there a need.
