Zeiss' newly developed lens system, Ultra-FL, provides an image of outstanding quality, including a light transmission of 92% which makes these binoculars useful even at dawn and dusk.
The Victory SF also features two fluorite lenses, made of high-quality Schott glass, to ensure world-class color reproduction. Newly developed eyepieces with seven lenses provide a clear image all the way to the edge. Distinct stops at the end positions of the focus are a greater improvement than one might initially think. In addition, the large focusing wheel is perfectly positioned a little further down towards the center of the binoculars, than is customary on binoculars. This makes it perfect for the index and middle finger and can be easily used both with and without gloves. Otherwise, Victory SF consists of two separate magnesium tubes, filled with nitrogen gas and coated with specially shaped rubber on the sides. On the one hand, it improves the ergonomics, and on the other hand, a number of thin grooves embedded in the rubber should better withstand impacts. The same at the front of the lens, where the rubber has been pulled forward extra far. The tubes are connected by a double link with the focusing at the top, and a single link at the bottom between the lenses. Together with the changed center of gravity, this provides perfect ergonomics with excellent and intuitive grip. The diopter is located in a separate screw at the top of the focusing bridge, is lockable and adjustable in +/- 4 diopters. The eyecups are plastic covered with a rubber rim and now have two intermediate positions between maximum unscrewed and fully screwed in for glasses wearers.
Zeiss uses its own Schott glass in all its binoculars. But they experiment with different coatings (anti-reflective treatments) on the different models, to give them different properties. SF claims a light transmission of 92 percent, which is a few percent worse than the Victory HT models. The close range is slightly improved compared to the Victory HT, to match the very best on the market.
