The Professional Tripod Head (PTH) from Swarovski is a gimbal-type head, i.e. a softly damped swing arm where the platform that holds up the photographic equipment or binoculars hangs like a swing.
The need arose in connection with the development of the BTX module and in close cooperation with those who photograph a lot through the ATX/STX modules. Because it is with heavier loads and large leverage forces that a gimbal head really comes into its own. If you also combine this head with Swarovski's BR Balance Rail, you have the perfect combination for binoculars as well as long telephoto lenses in small image systems. Since the platform can be raised and lowered along the vertical rail, the optimal tilt angle can always be obtained; with binoculars that have angled eyepieces (ATX), it is an advantage to pull it up a bit to avoid too much angular movement. The friction can be locked and regulated both vertically and horizontally with substantial knobs and wheels. The platform can be moved a little over a decimeter in height. The accompanying quick-connect plate measures 70x55 mm and can also be moved a few centimeters lengthwise. If BR Balance Rail is combined with PTH, it is mounted directly in the clamping shoe for the quick plate. The control lever is mounted inside the plate on the swing arm, which means that you can obtain both right and left-hand grip easily by just changing the side of the head.
