The wilderness road runs through genuine forests, past wild waters and over fine mountains.
In this book, the photographer and journalist Rolf Segerstedt has collected impressions and images from around 20 years of exploring the area in northern Jämtland and southern Lapland, which is part of Sapmi - the land of the Sami. The book Vildmarksvägen is aimed at all those interested in nature with pictures of the magnificent landscape, dramatic waterfalls and close-up portraits of animals, birds and plants. There are also reports from inside Sweden's longest cave and from a hike to the area's highest peak. The main focus of the book is the mountain area around Stekenjokk, where the road is only open in summer and attracts thousands of visitors every summer. Via the book's map and quick guide, the visitor can get many tips about places to stop at and explore along the 50 miles.
