Pettersson's u256 sets a new standard for USB microphones. The microphone offers excellent sensitivity, low noise, small size and ultra-low power consumption – all at a modest price. The components are housed in a slim and durable aluminum casing.
Like the well-known Pettersson M500-384 microphone, the u-series microphones identify as standard audio recording devices on Windows, OS X, Android, iOS and Linux. Likewise, they are compatible with most common audio recording apps and programs. Some other recommended software for various operating systems include Audacity (Windows, macOS, Linux), Ultrasonic Analyzer (iOS), and Bat Recorder (Android). Please verify hardware/software compatibility and that 256 kHz recording is supported. Some smartphones/tablets – especially low-end devices – have been found not to support USB audio at 256kHz.
The USB connector on the u256 connects directly to a USB Micro B socket and becomes a small and portable recording device. To connect the u256 to devices with other types of USB sockets or when lack of space makes it difficult to plug the u256 directly into the USB socket, an extension cable and/or an adapter can be used. Such cables and adapters must be OTG enabled. To be able to use the u256 with a USB-C device, an adapter is needed. Contact us for information.
To use a u256 with an Apple product use the supplied adapter (USB Micro B to USB A) and connect it to the MD821ZM/A (This is sold by Apple themselves) Please note that the smartphone in the picture is only shown for reference and is not included in the u256.
