SongBird is a simple but effective hearing aid for those affected by impaired hearing. Most of the time, it is the high frequencies that disappear first, and unfortunately many birds' sounds are there.
With SongBird around your neck and in your ears, you amplify everything you hear around you. Therefore, it works great during the forest walk, while it is not as suitable in noisy environments with a lot of "junk noise". If a jet plane flies over you, be prepared to momentarily lower the volume on the amplifier and then turn it up again when the plane has passed. Songbird is easy to use: You hang the amplifier around your neck so that the microphone ends up somewhere between your neck and your binoculars. Under your clothes, you run the cord to the headphones and connect to the amplifier. The headphones are of a professional type with a neckband, so it's easy to leave them hanging around your neck when you don't want to be connected. They fit well in the ear and are supplied with three different silicone plugs for different sized ear canals.
SongBird III has a detachable microphone. This means that you can replace it with, for example, a parabolic microphone to further amplify and gain directivity, instead of the omnidirectional microphone that is included. The amplifier is now supplied and powered by a 9 volt rechargeable battery and an included charger with cigarette lighter socket for the car. The device is easily charged in the car, the manufacturer does not recommend charging via a 240 volt network.
SongBird III comes with:
Amplifier with power switch and volume control
Detachable omnidirectional microphone
In-ear headphones Philips with three different silicone plugs
Charging cable with cigarette lighter socket for the car (not via 240 volt mains cable).
