The Kowa BD 56 XD is a bright pair of binoculars with the best possible optics at a reasonable price.
They have the addition XD Prominar, which means that the objective lenses consist of ED glass (ED = Extralow Dispersion) for the best image quality with high contrast and minimal color bleeding. The series is designed at Kowa in Tokyo, but manufactured in a Chinese factory to provide the competitive price. The chassis is - despite the large light opening - compact and built in light metal, covered with a sober dark green rubber reinforcement. The eyecups are of the twist up type and offer a full field of vision even with glasses. Of course, the binoculars are filled with nitrogen gas for full tightness against both dust, water and condensation. Diopter adjustment takes place with a small lever under the focusing wheel and affects the right eyepiece as usual. Field of vision and close range are at a completely acceptable level for the size and price class. Supplied with bag, wide comfort strap in neoprene, eyepiece and lens cover.
